Work Description:
Unit 2:
This project involved design, and fabrication of multiple components of the Unit 2 turbine assembly. The bottom ring and head cover facing plates and wear rings were machined. The wicket gates were weld repaired, new shaft sleeves and leaf end plates were installed and then the leaf and shaft were machined to size and profile. New bushings were installed and machined for the wicket gate shafts, shear links, and control arms. All the completed components were sand blasted and painted.
Unit 3
The Yelm HED Unit 3 project involved design, and fabrication of multiple components of the Unit 3 turbine assembly. The bottom ring and head cover facing plates and wear rings were machined. The wicket gates were weld repaired, straightened, and the heel, toe, and top and bottom leaf surfaces machined to size and profile. Four new wicket gate thrust plates were fabricated. All new bushings were installed and machined for the wicket gate shafts, shear links, and control arms. Nine new shear links were fabricated, and all the completed components were sand blasted and painted. Additional work included fabrication of replacement parts for the servo motor, and custom shims.
In addition, since there were no existing documents for this unit, all of the components of the distributor were measured and as-built drawings provided to the customer.
